BookSnap (https://booksnap.absolutesolutions.co.tz) is operated by Absolute Solutions, a company registered in Tanzania. When this policy says “we”, “us”, or “our” it refers to Absolute Solutions.

Account information — When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.

Reading activity — We record which books you read, your current page, and whether you have completed a book. This is used to sync your progress across devices.

Comments and interactions — Any comments, replies, or likes you post on book pages are stored and associated with your account.

Usage analytics — We collect anonymised event data (pages viewed, features used, clicks) through PostHog to improve the product. No personally identifiable information is included in these events.

Error reports — If the app crashes or encounters an error, Sentry captures a technical report that may include device type, browser version, and the page you were on. No account credentials are included.

Affiliate clicks — When you click a “Buy this book” link, we record a hashed (irreversible) fingerprint of your IP address, the book ID, and the time of click. Raw IP addresses are never stored.

• To provide and maintain your account and reading progress
• To display your comments and reading activity to you
• To moderate comments and prevent abuse
• To send you important account emails (password resets, security alerts)
• To understand how readers use BookSnap so we can improve it
• To track affiliate revenue (hashed, never tied to your identity)

We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy and data processing agreements. Where required, we have signed Data Processing Agreements with these providers.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information (name, email, reading progress, and comments) is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Anonymised analytics data (PostHog) and hashed affiliate click records may be retained for up to 3 years for business reporting purposes. These records cannot be linked back to you.

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Correction — update incorrect information via your account settings
• Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format (JSON)
• Objection — opt out of analytics tracking by contacting us

BookSnap uses only essential cookies required for authentication (session token) and preference storage. We do not use advertising, tracking, or third-party cookies.

BookSnap is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We protect your data using industry-standard measures: all data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.3), passwords are hashed with bcrypt (cost factor 12), and access to our systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we commit to notifying affected users within 72 hours of discovering a data breach.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email or an in-app notice. Continued use of BookSnap after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
